Verdicts in!!!
This whole issue about Trayvon Martin is baffling to me on many levels. Ok the obvious is that racism is still alive and well, which I think is another way to blatantly put black people in their place. I'm just shocked that people are shocked by the verdict. What I'm baffled by is that while everyone is shocked no one is shocked enough to make a REAL movement not posting blacked out pictures on Facebook or Instagram which most are only doing it cause it seems cool to do and everyone else is doing it, not cause you actually believe in the fight or cause, or we go out in the streets and tear up our own neighborhoods and streets (which i never understood). Black kids are killed almost everyday, there is no outrage or rallies for that. If we want change we have to do better ourselves not always waiting for someone else to get it for us. I'm not condoning this verdict, cause we all know if the color was reversed this trial would have been over with last year, with less evidence. It use to said that our children are our future, but if we don't change or help make a change our future will end with our kids or better yet out live our kids. Because this verdict and other unsung murders on our kids only opens our eyes to the fact that we are still not equal and it's about to be open season on us, because not just Florida but other states have this "Stand your ground" law as well. We have fallen asleep to what our ancestors have worked so hard for us to gain, and now we squander it. We need to do better.
